About Alberta Cheer Empire Athletes Association

This summer, we had the pleasure of partnering with Alberta Cheer Empire Athletes Association, a cheerleading club based in Edmonton, Alberta. This July, they ran their first TeamFund campaign, a BBQ Meats fundraiser. 

The results exceeded expectations, raising over $4,100 for the club and offering a powerful example of what’s possible for cheer programs looking for an effective, reliable fundraiser.

Common Cheer Fundraising Challenges

Like many cheerleading organizations, Alberta Cheer Empire Athletes Association needed to fundraise to support costs that come with competitive cheer:

• Training and coaching expenses
• Competition travel and fees

About Yellowknife Gymnastics Club

Yellowknife Gymnastics Club is the only gymnastics club in the Northwest Territories. Running over 170 classes each year for their community, the club provides recreational and competitive gymnastics in a safe and supportive environment. Their competitive programming focuses on advanced skills, strength, and flexibility, with gymnasts showcasing their routines during competitions both in-house and across Canada, in provinces such as British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.

Travel is a key way the club provides an enriched experience for their athletes. Travelling for competitions not only allows gymnasts to flex their skills, but also fosters team bonding, team spirit, goal setting, and builds self-esteem. 

Funding Competition Season with Food Fundraising

To ensure that every athlete has the opportunity to participate in competitions, the club organizes fundraising initiatives to help offset the associated costs.

Since Spring 2024, the club has returned to TeamFund three times for food fundraising, trying both the BBQ Meats and Fill Your Freezer fundraisers.

In May 2025, the club raised $4,126 with BBQ Meats for their athletes. 

The BBQ Meat fundraiser is a perfect opportunity for families to stock up on locally sourced meats, such as bacon, steak, chicken, burgers, and more for Spring. 

What made it even better?  The club was able to earn an average of 20% profits back on every sale.

About Mountain Shadows Gymnastics Club 

Mountain Shadows Gymnastics Club is a privately owned gymnastics club offering top-tier recreational and competitive programming for youth athletes. 

The owner, Jim, founded Altadore Gymnastics Club in Calgary and opened Mountain Shadows Gymnastics in 1996 to offer gymnastics programming to the Okotoks area. 

Their annual competitive program runs from July to June, with gymnasts attending local meets in Alberta and British Columbia, and even travelling to the USA to compete. Gymnasts from Mountain Shadows have consistently earned gold medals and provincial titles, fostering a team environment that feels like family.

Many families have come to find a second home in Gymtastics. With vast programming (including opening their gym up for birthday parties with a certified instructor to keep things safe and age-appropriate obstacle courses and gymnastics activities), the gym is committed to keeping up equipment maintenance for health and safety.

In order to keep up with the expenses, Gymtastics runs several fundraising initiatives throughout the year for their parents and community to participate in.
