About Lashburn Figure Skating Club 

In the heart of Lashburn, Saskatchewan Lashburn Figure Skating Club continues to shine both on the ice and through their fundraising efforts. This Fall marked the club’s third campaign with TeamFund, delivering strong, consistent results.

Through the Bacon Fundraiser, the club raised over $3,100, proving that when a community is engaged and invested, the population size doesn’t limit the impact they can have.

This Fall’s fundraiser carried an extra layer of excitement. While the figure skating club promoted their Bacon Fundraiser, the local gymnastics club launched its own Fill Your Freezer campaign at the same time.

What started as a friendly, unofficial competition quickly became a powerful display of community spirit.

Despite being a small town, both clubs achieved similar success—showing just how powerful small town fundraisers can be when the community rallies together and is a reflection of the community’s generosity and the pride residents take in supporting young athletes across all sports.

Building Long-Term Fundraising Success Through Community Support

Throughout the figure skating fundraising campaign, families rallied and promoted the fundraiser throughout the community and encouraged neighbours, relatives, and other local supporters to participate. 

Bacon Fundraising has been a reliable favourite for Lashburn Figure Skating Club, offering an easy, high-demand product that consistently generates strong sales. The club’s ability to maintain stable results across multiple seasons speaks to their thoughtful planning, strong communication, and deep community roots. 

In 2025, the club raised over $3,100, with funds playing a crucial role in supporting the club’s season, including coaches, ice time, program development, and easing financial pressures for families. 

For young skaters in a small community, these resources are invaluable, ensuring the sport remains accessible, engaging, and well supported.

About Foothills Navy League

Based in Langdon, Alberta, the Foothills Navy League is dedicated to shaping today’s youth into tomorrow’s leaders. Through dynamic, nautically themed cadet programming, they serve youth aged 9-12, fostering essential life skills in a supportive team environment.

Meeting weekly from September to June, the program offers a wealth of opportunities for youth to build skills, make friends, and have fun. Their mission is to promote leadership, citizenship, self-discipline, and respect for others, preparing cadets for positive futures.

About Cochrane Skating Club

Cochrane Skating Club is a vibrant community of about 30 skaters, along with dedicated parents, volunteers, and coaches. The non-profit organization has been nurturing a love of skating in their community for almost 50 years.

From building confidence and teamwork to fostering friendships and promoting fitness, the club goes beyond the ice rink, creating a supportive community for skaters of all ages.

Keeping registration fees low and maintaining top-notch facilities requires creative fundraising solutions. Maintaining a strong skating program requires dedicated coaches, athletes, and volunteers – not to mention the cost of equipment, upkeep, and ice time.

To keep fees low, the club highly encourages volunteer involvement from all community members: parents, grandparents, neighbourhood friends, or relatives!

The surprising secret ingredient to building strong citizens (and raising more in your next youth group or team fundraiser)? Fun and Teamwork!

903 Strathmore Royal Canadian Air Force Cadets is a non-profit youth program for ages 12-18 based out of Strathmore, Alberta. The program aims to empower youth aged 12 – 18 through challenging, fun, and rewarding activities that help build valuable life skills. .

Their programs cover a plethora of activities: aviation, marksmanship, speech, field survival, physical fitness, leadership, music, and teaching. The Cadets offer a unique learning experience, using practical real-life situations that require teamwork to help youth learn the value of working together to accomplish their goals.

Youth come away from the program learning mutual respect, forming lifelong friendships, and building a community with long-lasting impact.

Cadets Fundraising Supports Training and Other Activities

As a non-profit organization, the 903 Strathmore Cadets look to community support to help raise funds to support training and other activities. Fundraising and cadets both have incredible benefits for team building:

To raise funds, Cadets take part in bottle drives, parade nights, and cash calendars. One fundraiser they return to year after year is TeamFund’s Fill Your Freezer Fundraiser. 

In 2022, their first Fill Your Freezer fundraiser raised just over $700 for their group. While they didn’t quite reach their goals, they decided to give it another try!

With consistency, tasty products with families in mind, and an easy online platform….  they have been able to double their fundraisers twice to achieve an incredible profit of $5189.50 in Spring 2024! 

Overcoming Fundraising Challenges 

In their first attempt with TeamFund, the group brought in just $703 with 100% fresh Canadian bacon. While they were still able to bring in a little bit of money for their organization, they knew they could do better.

The challenge? Low engagement– they needed a way to excite the community. The group changed up their strategy and followed up in 2023 with a Fill Your Freezer Fundraiser.

About St. Marys Music Foundation 

St Marys is the oldest school in Calgary, founded in 1885. Today, the school serves just over 1000 students from grades 10-12. Their mission is to help students realize their full potential through living and learning through their catholic faith.

In addition to school learning, St. Mary’s offers many optional courses, including Career and Technology Studies like food, mechanics, and cosmetology, as well as arts opportunities in dance, drama, and music.

The St. Mary’s Music Foundation is a non-profit foundation that is dedicated to supporting the musical experiences of students at St. Marys School. The purpose of the foundation is to help provide financial support to students through fundraising initiatives.

With the help of St. Marys Music Foundation, many students have received scholarships, trip subsidies, and individual student support to help them achieve their musical dreams. Through opportunities provided in music, students are able to have a more well-rounded education with experiences outside of the classroom.

Funding Music Programs with Food Fundraising

St. Marys Music Foundation runs several fundraisers throughout the year, from music showcases to cookie dough and chocolates. In Fall 2023, St. Marys partnered with TeamFund to offer their community a Fill Your Freezer fundraiser.

Arbour Lake School raised over $1900 for their upcoming sailing trip with a tasty Spolumbo’s Sausage Fundraiser! Better yet, TeamFund’s easy online platform made organizing and tracking the fundraiser a breeze.

About Arbour Lake School 

Arbour Lake School is a middle school in Calgary, Alberta that serves students from grades 5-9. Their motto is “learning as unique as every student,” and they strive to personalize learning for their students for success in a culture of caring and respect. 

Students at the school are given opportunities to try many options outside of core classes including technology, fine arts, career options, and athletics. One of the many opportunities provided to students is a sailing trip!

Dive Calgary raised over $2700 in their first TeamFund Fundraiser towards purchasing new equipment. The Fill Your Freezer filled their freezers with delicious food and supported the club! 

Dive Calgary is the only competitive platform and springboard diving club in Calgary and has supported athletes since 1973. They have been around for so long that the building where they train, MNP Community & Sports Centre, has undergone several name changes over the years! 

The Dive Calgary team is currently made up of 42 divers who train from September – June and attend competitions at the national and international levels from January to July. This includes attending the Nationals in Montreal and national competitions in Manitoba and British Columbia, and some of their athletes are even travelling internationally to the United Kingdom this year to compete. 

Sports fundraising is key to being able to purchase new equipment, cover operating costs, and help youth to attend competitions both nationally and internationally. 

Recently, Dive Calgary ran its first TeamFund Fundraiser to raise money for equipment like trampolines, dry boards, and a new diving space in the Seton neighborhood. 

The Fill Your Freezer Fundraiser allowed the team to sell over 150 boxes of food: perogies, burgers, chicken, bacon, and more!

On delivery day, several excited volunteers came out to help organize and distribute boxes to the club’s supporters.

Calgary Canoe Club has raised over $17,000 with the help of TeamFund’s online fundraising with food.

This story reviews their 2022 fundraiser to support their competitive paddling programs. Adapting to their evolving needs by providing vegetarian and vegan options, the club returns once a year to fill their fridges and freezers and raise money.

The Calgary Canoe Club focuses its programming on youth and adult competitive paddling programs on the Glenmore Resevoir. Through this program, paddlers are able to develop paddling skills, meet new friends, and stay active and healthy. 

It is all made possible by the staff and board, along many fundraisers that allow them to offset the cost of equipment and attending competitions. Once a year, they work with TeamFund Fundraising for part of their fundraising efforts throughout the season. 

When they first started with TeamFund, Spolumbo’s and Bow River Meats were their favourites. Regularly running a meat fundraiser allows people to keep their fridges and freezers stocked, all while supporting a paddling program that allows people to get outdoors and build life-long friendships.

Over time, they began to request vegetarian and vegan options for their supporters. So the club switched to Fill Your Freezer combined with Thai Manna. With so many local vendors to choose from, TeamFund was able to adapt to the team’s needs year-over-year. 

In 2022, Calgary Canoe Club was able to raise almost $1,800 towards their goal of attending the Canoe Kayak Championships.
