A small but mighty group of just 30 skaters, Cochrane Skating Club has raised over $10K with consistent fundraising effort – filling their freezers (and athlete bank accounts!) since 2020 with TeamFund’s easy online fundraising platform.

About Cochrane Skating Club

Cochrane Skating Club isnā€™t just about perfecting triple axels and learning graceful pirouettes. The non-profit organization has been nurturing a love of skating in their community for almost 50 year, currently supporting about 30 skaters.Ā Ā

From building confidence and teamwork to fostering friendships and promoting fitness, the club goes beyond the ice rink, creating a supportive community for skaters of all ages.

is a non-profit organization that has been organizing skating programs to Cochrane, Alberta and the surrounding areas for almost 50 years. Currently, the club supports about 30 skaters.Ā

From teaching kids as young as 4 to offering competitive programs, the coaches of Cochrane Skating Club are dedicated, loyal, and committed to individual development to help each skater realize their personal best (on or off the ice!)

Keeping SkatingĀ AffordableĀ withĀ Healthy Fundraising Initiatives

Maintaining a vibrant skating program requires dedicated coaches, athletes, and volunteers ā€“ not to mention the cost of equipment, upkeep, and ice time.

To keep club fees low, the club highly encourages volunteer involvement from all community members: parents, grandparents, neighbourhood friends, or relatives!

In addition to a strong community of volunteers, the club also has a Fundraising Committee that runs several fundraisers throughout the year.

Understanding parent needs for funding as well as the importance of community involvement, the fundraising coordinator Jeanine works hard to provide fundraising campaigns every 2-3 months to help opportunities offset their program fees.

One of their favourite fundraisers is TeamFundā€™s Fill Your Freezer Fundraiser. In this fundraiser, families can stock up on grocery staples like bacon, burgers, and more and earn an average of 20% back from all sales.

This fundraising approach resonated for a few key reasons:

    • Families could stock up on restaurant-quality grocery favourites like burgers, bacon, and steaks delivered to the arena for pick-up
    • Athletes earn an average of 20% of all sales for their account
    • Unlike traditional fundraising options like chocolate, this campaign provides nutritious options, aligning with the active & healthy lifestyle that skating promotes
    • Effortless management: TeamFundā€™s online platform makes it easy to shop, share, and keep track of your fundraiser from sign up to delivery
