About Knight Knockey Club
Knights Hockey Club is a Calgary-based hockey association. The club prides itself on equal opportunity, fostering the development of young players ranging from U7 to U18.
The Knights strongly emphasize instilling the values of fair play, respect, sportsmanship, mental and physical wellness, and teamwork in their players.
In 2019, Knights Hockey Club came to life by merging the Lake Bonavista Breakers and the Midnapore Mavericks associations, expanding its reach to 12 Calgary communities.Â
As thrilling as it is, hockey often comes with financial challenges due to how expensive playing can be. Recognizing this, Knights Hockey Club has implemented several initiatives to alleviate this financial burden on families.
Overcoming Financial Challenges in Hockey with Food Fundraising
We had the privilege of speaking with Erin, the club’s administrator, during their TeamFund fundraising initiative.
Since 2020, Knights Hockey has harnessed the power of TeamFund’s food fundraisers to generate over $24,000 for player assistance.
Their secret to success lies in combining fundraising packages; typically they opt for the Fill Your Freezer and Coco Brooks Pizza & Cookies fundraisers.
By offering an array of food choices, the club maximizes their potential profits. Families stock up on delicious goodies for their fridges and freezers while simultaneously contributing to cover their child’s registration fees. It’s a win-win for everyone involved!
In Summer of 2022, the Knights raised almost $6,000 for player assistance with 75% going directly into player accounts and 25% to the club’s dedicated uKnighted Fund, a financial assistance program for families who need it most.

During that time, she started helping with administrative tasks and now plays an integral role in the Knights Hockey Club and the Wolverines Hockey Club (formerly known as the Blackfoot Hockey Club).
Although her son has outgrown minor hockey, Erin’s commitment to the community and support for the sport continues to thrive.

Since then, Erin annually spearheads TeamFund fundraisers for both Calgary hockey clubs.
Since hockey is segmented by regions within the city, both fundraisers tap into different communities, ensuring maximum participation and success.
