About Airdrie Girls Softball Association

Airdrie Girls Softball Association (AGSA) is a community softball league serving young athletes in Airdrie, Okotoks, Crossfield, Carstairs, Didsbury, and Balzac. Along with local games, some of their teams compete in the Calgary Softball League.

The softball association is run by a small group of volunteers who work hard to make every season safe and find funding opportunities to keep the sport affordable. Teamwork is at the core of the AGSA philosophy, fostering friendship and fun in the community since 1980.

Fundraising Together Teaches Teamwork and Community Engagement

Fundraising and team-building go hand in hand: You can raise more by working together as a team than having parents scramble to fund their kids’ baseball themselves on top of their countless other commitments.

Engaging youth in your fundraisers and giving them an opportunity to work together towards a shared goal also strengthens the teamwork that is foundational to succeeding in sports!

  • Developing self-esteem and confidence
  • Teaching leadership skills
  • Communication skills → like asking for the sale!
  • Building stronger relationships
  • Learn time management
  • Acquire respect for self and others
  • Understand responsibility

Like many baseball organizations, the AGSA faced a common challenge: funding the growing needs of its young athletes. As a volunteer-run organization, AGSA relies on fundraising solutions to raise money and cover the cost of equipment, travel, and overall program enhancement.

One fundraiser that the AGSA has returned to 3x now is the Fill Your Freezer Fundraiser! This fundraiser offers a great opportunity for families in the AGSA to raise money for their programming while stocking up on restaurant-quality groceries.

With TeamFund Fundraising, the group is able to track results per team so they can allocate the funds once their fundraiser is complete.

Parents stock their freezers with grocery favourites like bacon, steaks, burgers, and more!

The best part: an average of 20% of every purchase goes straight back to the team to help fund their teams every year.

We all know a baseball family can’t resist a hot dog, right!?

Softball teams can fundraise as a means of reducing costs for tournaments, team meals, apparel, etc.

Fundraising helps supplement organization costs and make the organization better for players, coaches, and parents.

The results speak for themselves:

In 2022, the group raised just ~$1800 in their first Fill Your Freezer fundraiser.

When they returned in 2023, they almost doubled their fundraising efforts to raise almost $4500

Most recently, in May 2024, the Airdrie Girls Softball Association was able to raise $5,252 to support their softball teams.

Over $11K Raised!

Since 2022, Airdrie Girls Softball Association (AGSA) has been able to raise $11,609 by filling their freezers with tasty meats!

With those funds, the AGSA  brought home several medals from bronze to gold in their 2024 season tournaments across Alberta.

Whether or not they win, the AGSA warmly congratulates every one of their athletes for the passion for the game, dedication to their team, and love for the sport.

Not only do they demonstrate commitment, sportsmanship, determination, and enthusiasm, but gratitude comes at the forefront of their work. The Angels enrich the Airdrie community and serve not only as a fun way for youth to stay active, but an inspiration for future athletes

We are excited to see how they perform in 2024/25!

Go spend your hard-earned funds and rock your next tournament!
