Alberta Dance Academy raised over $4,800 in their recent Fill Your Freezer fundraiser! The studio returns twice a year to help dancers raise money to offset costs like class time, costuming, and competition costs.
About Alberta Dance Academy
Alberta Dance Academy is a vibrant dance studio based in Okotoks, Alberta. Their programming is both recreational and competitive, supporting dancers aged 2 to adulthood.
Their competitive team is made up of 79 dancers on eight teams. Most of their competitions are within the province, but this year they are heading to their first international competition in Scottsdale, Arizona!
Erica Hendry has been making an impact in her local community through Alberta Dance Academy since 2007, when she became the owner. She loves that the community feels like family and that everyone supports one another, regardless of age or skill level.
Dance is not just a form artistic expression, but also helps dancers develop life skills beyond the studio: punctuality, discipline, work ethic, and balancing ambition with empathy. It is a great activity to keep youth busy, active, and out of trouble.
Keeping Dance Affordable with Food Fundraising
Unlike a traditional sports team, each dancer can decide to commit to different amounts of classes and competitions. Some dancers will do one competition a year, while others will do up to thirteen. Expenses like class fees, costumes, and travel can add up when dedicating
Erica runs several fundraisers throughout the year to help support dancers with fees. Some of their smaller fundraisers include chocolate and seasonal flowers (perfect for celebrating an amazing show!) However, their biggest fundraiser each year is with TeamFund.

This October, Alberta Dance Academy raised over $4800 in their most recent fundraiser, combining Fill Your Freezer, Simple Simons, and Thai Manna options.
These fundraisers allow families to purchase delicious food that they may otherwise purchase at the grocery store and support Alberta Dance Academy at the same time.
