Minor hockey team Calgary Northstars was able to utilize online fundraising to offset costs and provide accessible hockey for youth. Harnessing community support, they were able to raise over $11,000 with food.
The Calgary Northstars is a minor hockey team that strives to develop exceptional people, players, and teams both on and off the ice. Their teams range from U13 to Jr. B Gold, supporting players in various levels of hockey.
More than just a hockey association, they are a community that comes together to support one another in sports and in life. They truly are a hockey family!
Given the recent state of the economy, The Calgary Northstars understand that families may need more help now than ever before.
Hockey can be an expensive sport. By tapping into community support, they are able to make hockey more accessible for youth.
In 2022, Calgary Northstars ran an online food fundraiser to help offset registration fees and increasing costs. It was their first fundraiser as an entire organization with TeamFund Fundraising.
The fundraiser was run entirely by a couple of board members and some incredible volunteers, and they were able to raise over $11,000 with a combination of Cocobrooks (Pizza!) and Fill Your Freezer campaigns with TeamFund
Food fundraising was the perfect opportunity for these hungry athletes – they had 685 boxes delivered! Families and other supporters were able to fill their freezers or order delicious pizza, all while supporting the development of minor hockey players.
With that many orders, the ease of ordering online was a massive benefit to this organization. They were able to focus on promoting the fundraiser to as many supporters as possible instead of chasing 600+ paper order forms and payments.
